Hello world!

Welcome to my revamped blog. I am rather enthralled with the idea of syncretism — the creative synthesis of ideas and practices from multiple sources. As a generalist and a divergent thinker, I’m attracted to many disciplines and a wide range of ideas. And, yes, I recognize the danger inherent in gathering from many sources and casting a wide net. That is, the danger of not going deeper, of ignoring the vertical dimension in favor of the horizontal.

I’m sitting in a cottage on  the coast of Maine, looking out at the vast horizon line that marks the “edge” of the Earth and the sky. Aware that it is the vertical punctuation of spruce trees that offers “windows” to view the larger scene.

So here are some posts that represent views through various “windows” of the much more vast and extensive world around me. Enjoy!

Yep. I was playing with stones and making mini-cairns on the beach at Birch Bay State Park in Washington a couple of weeks ago. Photo through the beach grass, looking out at the bay.
