A Curved Pancake Turner? Why??

OK it escapes me why anybody would design a pancake turner like the one below with a curved edge. It can’t be used to scrape a pan because it only makes contact at one point. And it is too stiff to flex against the pan.

Alas it has become very hard to find a good turner — one that has a flat edge, is thin and flexible, and balances well in the hand.

My favorite has a wooden handle that our dog Berry (may he rest in peace) chewed up one evening (OK, maybe he took it off the counter a couple of times). It’s light, smallish, has a flat side, is flexible, and does the job well. I use it almost daily.
